Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is confident his side can knock Liverpool out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
The two English foes were paired together in Friday’s draw for the last eight of Europe’s premier cup competition with the first leg due to take place at Emirates Stadium on 1st or 2nd April followed by the second leg at Anfield one week later.
Liverpool also face an away match against the Gunners on 5th April in the Premier League to leave the two sides facing each other three times in the space of one week.
And Wenger is confident his side can eliminate Liverpool – who reached last year’s Champions League final – after knocking out holders Milan in the last 16.
“Let us not think too far away,” Wenger told.
“Let’s do it step by step. We knocked Milan out, which was a big hurdle. We have the finalist and the holders (from last season) on our route.
“But we were strong enough to knock out the holders so we can do it as well against Liverpool.
“It is interesting and challenging too. It is a good opportunity to be consistent against Liverpool. We will know each other well after the three games.
“It is three very important games for us so let us just start well with the first one and at the end you want to win the game.”
